Please join us as we explore Prison Ministry throughout the Synod by participating in the Second Prison Ministry Conference for District Coordinators, Representatives, or anyone involved in district Prison Ministry in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS Southern Illinois District Prison Ministry Task Force is hosting this conference at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, April 15 – 16, 2024.

Sessions will include presentations from Rev. Tim Carter, author of the book, The Executioner’s Redemption, representatives from the LCMS office of National Mission and from our hosts, which include LCMS Prison Ministry, Concordia Publishing House, Lutheran Braille Workers, Lutheran Heritage Foundation, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and Lutheran Hour Ministries. These sessions will feature a variety of topics, available resources, and Q&A time. There will also be working sessions to talk through ideas, share knowledge, and to introduce what has been developed in a pilot program with the federal prison at Greenville, Illinois, based on the “Reaching In” material.

We are asking participants to explore the opportunities for Prison Ministry in their own districts. Even if there has not been any Prison Ministry developed in your area, this conference will be a great introduction to opportunities and resources.

Conference costs for District Coordinators or representatives will be only $100.00 each, as generous gifts by our hosts have been given to support this conference. The conference fee covers lodging for one night, meals, and snacks throughout the conference, and materials by the various host presenters. Travel scholarships are available to those who qualify, up to $250 of transportation expenses. Apply for a scholarship by sending a request email to sidlcmssage@gmail.com. Itemized receipts must be submitted to the Prison Ministry Conference; a reimbursement check will be mailed. Expenses for those driving, (not mileage) will be covered.

We look forward to seeing you as we explore the vast opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who may have never heard and to those who may have forgotten that Jesus died for their sins and wants them to have eternal life.
