“APOLOGETICS 101” Apologetics Workshop

“APOLOGETICS 101” Apologetics Workshop to be Held at Zion Mascoutah on October 7

Have you faced objections to the Christian faith, such as “the Bible isn’t a true and reliable book” or “Jesus didn’t really rise from the dead” or “Christianity is just a bunch of old stories that aren’t really true”? How do you become “prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15)?

These will be the topics of discussion covered at a workshop entitled “Apologetics 101” to be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 101 S. Railway Street, in Mascoutah IL on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The workshop will begin at 9:00 with registration, and an opening devotion at 9:30. Topics to be covered throughout the day will include “The Who, What, Where, Why, and When of Apologetics” led by Faith Spelbring of Zion, Belleville, “Literature and Apologetics: A Bridge to Conversation” led by Rev. Joe Cox of Lutheran South High School in St. Louis, and “The Word They Still Shall Let Remain: The Reliability of Scripture” and “The Reality of the Resurrection: Nothing Else Really Matters” led by Rev. Dr. Kirk Clayton from Zion, Mascoutah. All three presenters are Fellows of the International Academy of Apologetics, Evangelism and Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, where they studied with John Warwick Montgomery and Craig Parton. The workshop will conclude with a closing devotion at 3:00 PM.

The registration cost for the workshop will be $10, which will cover the cost of lunch, which will be provided as a part of the event. To register for the workshop, or to find more information, please contact Pastor Clayton at pastor@zionmascoutah.org.
